Pyramid Level 2: Accept The Present letter image

Maybe you are working a job you hate.

Maybe your health is not really in check.

Maybe you are in a relationship with someone you don't love, but complace because of the time you have together.

Society has a common term for these unfortunate scenarios: victim.

Since childhood, we've seen a lot of cases where our parents, friends or colleagues blamed someone else:

  • Math teacher gave me 4 because he doesn't like me
  • Those guys make fun of me because I'm fat
  • Government is bad, this is why we don't have money
  • We didn't hit the target because Larry moved too slow with his part
  • I have poor education because of the village I was born in
  • I am fat because of the genetic modified food they sell

Very early in our life we start looking outside for potential reasons for our problems. It's never our fault, thus, we can move on.

This is a mentality of a victim, which is constantly under pressure, sick, unsatisfied and even if something good happens, he could find something else that didn't work.

Blame comes from what the eyes see. Unfortunately, we don't have another pair to look into the soul.

The intention of the previous letter was to bring awareness that we must be in self-control in order to take the action we want, or avoid certain behaviours.

That is the requirement to be able to build the Pyramid Level 2: Accept The Present.

We are victims of our ignorance of self-understanding.

Let's zoom out for a moment: What happens if we blame others?

  • Lose control of what we can do
  • Take that action as is, just because you can do nothing
  • Continue to live a sad life because you don't have power

I hope you agree that it's not a life to wish for, isn't it?

And still, most of us at least experienced that kind of life at some point, even me:

  • I blamed the scholarship for my bad degrees
  • I blamed the manager for not giving me the proper raise
  • I blamed the country because I don't know how to start a business
  • I blamed others who had rich parents and had more opportunities

That helped with nothing but increasing my frustration, sadness, depression, the feeling of being lost in the unfair life.

I am grateful that it's not the case anymore, and I can take full responsibility on my life, and everything I do not have, it's simply because of my belief limitation - which I constantly increase.

My first step towards this accomplishment was for the first time in my life, observe and accept my present.

For more clarity, I decided to write down every aspect in my life I don't like, and here are some, from 2022:

  • I hate being single
  • I hate this company I'm working at
  • I don't like to live with my parents
  • I'm tired of being lost in life
  • I want to start a side hustle but I'm afraid of failure, I hate it

It was rough and hard to recognize that those were my issues, but once they were in front on me, on that paper, they've became real.

I gave myself a real target to aim for which would get my life exactly how I wished.

Accepting the present as is, unlocks the creativity to pull you out from it.

There were certainly more steps I did to achieve every, which I could see and action them because of my acceptance and taking full ownership over my situation:

  • In meditation, I visualised myself how I'd be, where I'd be and how I'd act
  • I wrote down the most powerful insights from meditation
  • I created a schema with all the options I could have think of
  • I picked one option and made an entire plan for it

I want to emphasise the importance of clarity of that plan: make it so clear that you believe in it by heart.

Letter's Quest

This will be challenging and may not emerge fast.

Write down 2 aspects in your life that you think someone else has control over, and you are a victim.

For each aspect, try the following:

  • Think how you've got yourself there
  • What is the cost of change?
  • What are the alternatives?
  • How much joy would the change bring into your life?

Nothing comes off? Meditation or journaling will bring all your dark thoughts outside.

Remember, we all have limited time on this planet, and we don't know when it's the end. There's no time to be a victim, accept the present and get your life in place!

We all have to pay the price living the past or the price of change. The second would at least bring peace afterwards.

Until the next letter, I wish you success in everything you're up to!
