Sometimes, when I hear or read new things, they are so logical and obvious that immediately make sense. But here's the catch: we need the information to come.
What do you do when a person is telling you something you already heard before? Do you stop him saying that you already know that?
If so, let me tell you from my experience that it's never too much to listen to a new person saying about the same thing. Some personal examples:
- Many people told me not to smoke
- Many people told me to learn as much as I can
- Many people told me that physical activity would help me
- Many people told me stop playing desperately video games
- Many people told me that there's love even after the first breakup
- Many people told me to believe in me
- Many people told me that alcohol would destroy me when I get older
- Many people told me there's another better job
Do you feel me? You know you're doing a bad thing for you, other people encourage you to stop, but you cannot. Back then, I felt broken inside every time I couldn't control my behaviour.
No matter how many people tell you about the good thing you should change if:
1. You don't believe in it
2. That person doesn't believe in you
Almost every time I changed, stopped and implemented behaviours was because of:
- It was at least the 10th time I heard it
- I could finally understood the consequences
- I could see the benefits
- The person motivating me was doing what he said
- I believed in me that I can change
- That person inspired me enough trust and motivation to "jump on it"
What I'm trying to say is that if you struggle achieving something, let new people who truly want to help, to support you. It may sound boring to hear about that same thing you cannot do, but the moment you crushed it? That's joy, glory, power.
The cool part is that even a stranger can motivate you enough. Think about YouTube, you don't really know those people you're watching, but they are inspiring. This is my goal: to inspire and motivate people struggling with what I struggled.
I've chosen the title for a good reason. Our balance comes from 4 main areas: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Emotional area won't be addressed, as I believe it's the most sensible one and requires more discussions.
This formula allows me to achieve big almost every day:
1. Train
I've been kicking off the day with a gym workout for the last 7 years and I can't stress enough the benefits I've got.
Just some of them are:
- Creates discipline
- Being in shape
- Getting confidence
- Learned about delayed gratification - the progress comes after a lot of 'invisible' work
- Taught me to train weak muscles even harder (apply the same in life aspects)
- Consistency beats talent
Discipline is the only option to save you when you lack motivation.
This gave me the chances of meeting other people, opportunities and new things to explore.
By doing it first thing in the morning, I stay away from the phone/laptop, letting my mind and body enjoy a healthy wake-up.
Once I'm done, my energy level skyrockets so I can do deep, focused work since morning.
2. Meditate
I battled myself for around a year to implement the daily meditation/reflection. I did it only when things went so badly I couldn't hold back my stress.
Once I stabilised the situation for a week or two, the frequency of meditating decreased. I did that again and again, without questioning why am I bouncing instead of being balanced all the time?
Silence is the weapon to combat overthinking. Master it to regain your peace of mind.
One day, I found the answer: meditation existed in my daily routine as long as I was chaotic. It took me no time to understand the similarity of meditation and workouts, and the importance of their frequencies.
I don't train only when I lose my pump or health, but to prevent them. So the same I started to apply with meditation, as I want to prevent stress, anxiety and depression.
What do I gain from self-reflection?
- Unclog overthinking
- Clarity of near future
- Prioritising actions
- Discipline
- Being grateful for my present as is
3. Build
Now, when it comes to building, it sounds exciting, but when about doing, it sucks, right?
Don't stress, I've been there almost my whole life, and this is why I placed it 3rd. There are prerequisites to do it with joy and pleasure.
Remember train? We gain discipline and delayed gratification from it. Put them in your toolbox.
What did we say about meditation? It cristalyzes the vision, gives the ability of being grateful for the present, and unlocks the peace of mind.
Tell me, dear reader, what would stop you from building your dream since it's clear, you're disciplined, grateful for what you are, at peace and capable of delaying gratification? Nothing.
4. Celebrate - the last and super important
This is so underrated, but so powerful, because it shouldn't be big.
It would be enough to consciously think about the progress and effort put out there, and thank yourself, be grateful for what you achieved. Mean it. Feel it. Own it.
Letter's quest
Do you want to join me in my daily routine for the next 7 days for a productive connection?
Great! Pick just one thing you want to deeply focus on.
Let's crush it daily doing these things:
- Workout session - feel your muscles, blood flow, get pumped up
- Meditate/journal - analyse to get clarity in your plan towards the chosen thing
- Build it - action on the plan
Can't wait to see your progress in just 7 days!
Until the next letter, I wish you success in everything you're up to!
