Clear Up The Mirror
Acknowledge the good things you already do.

Did you look at yourself in the mirror today?
Most people don't notice their own self when they brush their teeths or wash their face. Everything is on auto-pilot.
There's no way to accomplish big things if you're not able to sit face-to-face with you. Maybe you're not where you'd like to be at this point in life. So what?
Not facing the present and accepting your true situation won't make things easier. It's not something that would get solved by the time either.
Avoiding the mirror signals a weak self-confidence.
Years ago, I saw a post saying that one of the hardest things is to say out loud in the mirror what you are doing wrong. And I tried it:
- I can't quit smoking
- I don't have enough money
- My health is deteriorated by Crohn's disease
- I drink too much alcohol
- I'm the clown of every party
- I don't know what do I do with my life
That post told the truth. I was indeed hard to admin them, but I already knew all those issues.
After some time, I flipped the coin to say what how many things I've already accomplished:
- I have reduced the number of cigarettes per day
- I have enough money not to be in debt
- My health is taken care of by doctors and by my decisions
- I started to cut off the bad jokes and get educated in various areas
- I started to think of the possibilities I have, career-wise
I tell you that was almost as hard as saying what doesn't work. I was so flooded by negative thoughts and life perception that I couldn't see something good that I do.
We think about bad more often than good. Thus, it's harder to tell what good we are already doing.
You don't need to achieve amazingly big things to proudly look into the mirror. And this is because of how we get inspired from our mentors:
- She has a wonderful family
- He bought a Rolex
- She was in 5 holidays last year
- He's driving a Rolls Royce
- She is a powerful leader within the company
- His speaking is so fluently
The above are generic examples. Take yours now, and think how much do you want them to appear in your mirror.
Maybe some or most of them. Neither is wrong. But what I need you to understand is that those people have been put tons of effort to realise whatever they have.
It is not wrong to wish for more quality. But it's unfair to demand it fast.
The message of today's letter is this: clear up the mirror and see yourself in it, not your mentors. By mentors I mean everyone inspiring you.
Why is this important?
Because if you start a change in your life and you don't see your progress almost every single day, you'll quit. It's almost guaranteed.
We need support on our way to excel, to be seen, heard, celebrated.
You need at least one person to be proud of you. The first one should be you.
Being your own supporter offers so much power and demolishes excuses such as nobody wants to support me.
While being cherished by other people is a great feeling, it may be a lonely path to get there. And this should not stop you from pushing further every day.
Most people won't support you because you present a danger to them. The danger of you getting better.
We want to conserve the energy for positive and constructive things, right? And even more, to recharge it throughout the day using a good mindset and proper nutrition.
We earn nothing but frustrations finding excuses, acting as a victim or ignoring our current situation.
There's one last catch: let yourself inspired by others, but don't be hard on yourself for not achieving what they did. Everyone has its own way for success.
Letter's Quest
Practising gratitude has lots of methods, but for the next 7 days the focus will be on the mirror.
It's extremely important to simply sit with you face-to-face and just observe:
- How your skin looks like
- How's your hair
- Do your eyes look tired?
Then we can go deeper and be grateful for the things you've done, such as:
- Standing in front of who you are
- Improved health
- Learned to relieve stress
- Can focus for longer
- You started journaling to offer more clarity in your life
Everything you do in your life starts with your image. Acknowledge and shape it as per your dreams.
Until the next letter, I wish you success in everything you're up to!
